Three main characters, innocent bear cubs of differing species (polar, black and grizzly), experienced journeys that tugged at my heart and soul in this first of series book. Separate, interspersed chapters presented the strivings of each cub. During the final chapter, two of the cubs journeys fatefully overlapped. (I had begun to wonder if the primary characters would ever meet.) A highlight near the book's end was the shape-shifting cub, Ujurak, who was totally delightful and left me wanting more!
