Will Burrows aka Seth Jerome, lives 'topsoil' with his family, Dr. and Mrs. Burrows and his sister, Rebecca. His father, Dr. Burrows, has an obsession to excavate and dig beneath the soil to find tunnels or cities lost long ago. He stumbles upon an important find. He hints to Will that he has found something big and tells him not to breathe a word of it to anyone. IN a few days, Dr. Burrows goes missing, and so Will along with his friend, Chester decide to investigate this mysterious tunnel. The mystery turns out to have dire consequences for Will and Chester...Will finds a long lost family he knew nothing about, the Jeromes, and in the process discovers many disturbing things about his topsoiler family.
Eventually, Chester and Will get separated from one another and Chester is accused of wrongdoings and tortured and sent to "The Deeps"...Will feels it is his duty to help him and goes on quest with new family members to save Chester. He just may end up saving others who are...more
