it was amazing
bookshelves: fifth-grade-books, children-s-literature

This book is fantastic! I think it is wonderful for younger and older elementary students alike. FOr young children, there is the alphabet aspect, listing foods kitty likes and doesn't like, and ways that kitty is bad as well as helpful. For older students, the humor in both the words and the pictures is great. I think older students would pay special attention to the illustrations, noting details such as how kitty's eyes are slitted open when he is bad, and wide open when he is good. ALso, Kitty's actions and mannerisms are hysterical.

I would use this book in fifth grade as a mentor text to writing similar stories. Students could create their own ABC book that fits within a bigger story.
