I wanted to like this book more than I actually did. Josie started out great in the beginning, embracing her new outlook on life. By the end of the book she was less of a heroine and more of a character things happen to. Her reaction to Rick's supposed fathering of a child was childish. He had been honest with her all along, admitting to just as bad or worse things. Why would Josie think he'd lie about this?
Although I liked Rick I didn't really get why he liked Josie. She wasn't enough of a stand out to me. Also they fell in love waaayyy too quick for me. Some of the scenes felt more necessary than natural, meaning I could almost hear the author tell herself 'I need this to happen so I can get to this more important scene' which made those bridge scenes flat. It was a shame because Susan Donovan is a good writer and there were some very fine parts of this book.
