I put off reading this series for a long time. I am glad I did because now I have a lot of books to read and I don't have to wait to see what happens next. I see many people compare this series to Anita Blake, but the only thing in common is the heroine is short. I find that the writing style and depth of story to be more like that of Marjorie Liu's work (both the Hunter Kiss novels and her Dirk and Steele novels).

If you like a good urban fantasy storied you will like this one. The characters have depth and a complexity that is refreshing. The hero has flaws and so dose the heroine but the strive to overcome them and work together. That part about working together, you don't usually see. Either the hero is uber alpha and keeps his "mate" (little woman) out of things or the Heroine frustrates everyone and runs of to fight the big bad alone. I was very happy to see that though they had these tendencies, they still tried to overcome them together.
