Well, I have thought about this a lot over the last two days. In light of my last review, I wanted to be fair and yet, not over compensate. I vacillated between three and four stars for a while, but due to the fact that the book actually caused me to give up sleep (I stayed up until midnight reading the last few chapters, I had to see how it ended), I felt that it deserved the upgrade. Those of you who know how important my sleep is to me will understand that!

On my first attempt at this book I quickly became confused and frustrated at where it was coming from. This was mainly due to two factors as far as I can ascertain. One of my issues I am convinced was the fact that I started reading the book in an environment that was less than conducive to concentration and this was exacerbated by the fact that the first few chapters give you a lot of information that makes sense later. It's all a lot of, "you'll see" in the beginning. There are so many twists and turns in th...more

777369 Amy. Good for you for giving the book a second & very thorough shot. And such a good review. I'll take a chance on "Vacation," as well.
[oh and btw, I've already mailed off a check for $100 to you (to cover both my books)]
!

629685 Thanks guys! I'm not as sure with Jessica's tastes yet, but I think Charissa, you will get a kick out of it.

Maurice, (wink), you know I'd read your book & review it! And, if it's as good as Jeremy's, you'll get 4 stars too!! :)

Jess, that's Amy, with a Y...

Tracy, you were right, it was really quite good! I just got all hung up that first time and then I got frustrated with Jeremy. It was wrong of me to take it out on the book, and I have apologized to him already, so all is well.

193255 Nothing is wrong. All is right with the world. I'm just surprised! This review almost made me want to read this book. Almost. But, I don't like horror, so I don't think I'd like it in any case. But I'm really happy for Jeremy.

545392 They "got to her" Sarah...they placed one of those pods beside her bed when she went to bed one night....

and when she woke up, she LOVED Vacation....

j/k Amy...it's a superior reader who is willing to give books second chances...

545392 pile on...it's Jeremypalooza 08 all over again...pretty soon the Jeremy-bashers will emerge kvetching again about the saturation bomb campaign and the 27,000 wounds of Our Lady of Vacation will open & bleed copiously anew...

193310 yes, this is the potentially most explosive thread on goodreads right now. b/t the jeremy saturation bomb blowback and the sarah/tracy/obama triad... whew.

stand the fuck back people. and cover your eyes.

193255 Charissa, I'm sorry, did you say Obamanation or Abomination? :)

Really, Charissa, I'm a little hurt that you do not remember me from way back on page seven or so of Tracy's thread.

Hugs and kisses to all.

629685 Good lord, I go to lunch and the shit hits the fan people!

Pod person...pft...W, you're supposed to be the nice one!

Tracy, you certainly are, I've got your back on this one luv! Last time there was a political discussion I tried like hell to get you to join in and you just kept your opinions to yourself and refused. And, when the whole drama that was the last Vacation review blew up, you were only sweet and supportive. You're a good girl, you are, and don't you let them give you a hard time!

537046 I will not take part in kicking the belly of poor Jeremy pup again. Let the 4 and 5 star reviews roll on and on. Hey, I give 4 star ratings to Hemingway, Faulkner and Shakespeare. Why not our beloved book bomber ship shape Jeremy Shipp? Vacation was all he ever wanted. Vacation-had to get away.

545392 It might be over for Hils tonight...she might end up having to spend time with Bill....i think it could get ugly if Hilary and Bill actually have relationship time...

Bill: Hilary, what should we do now?

Hilary: Oh, I don't know BILL....you seem to play the saxophone fine...maybe you could try to learn to play the whoremonica again...

Bill: I don't get it.

Hilary: You never will again. Where's the Dominos 2 for 1 coupon, bitch?

629685 Donald, this was never meant to be a "kick the belly of poor Jeremy" thread, at least not in my intention! I was completely serious in my reading and review of his book, I truly enjoyed it! Any book that forces me to stay up reading the last 5 or so chapters to see how it ends is good in my estimation.

I think Hill'll end up with Ellen D. before she'll stay with Bill...I would!

W- hahaha, brilliant!

193255 I don't really think Hillary cares one iota if Bill cheats. I think she didn't like being "humiliated" publicly, but frankly I think she's more than happy for him to get it elsewhere so she doesn't have to do it. Besides, I'd wager she has her own girlfriends. Theirs is a marriage of convenience. Chelsea was conceived because "families" look better on the campaign trail.

545392 Was "frankly" a pun?

What a grim and cynical view.

You're probably right.

"Chelsea, how does it feel to be a demographic hook?"

193255 I feel sorry for Chelsea, but yes, I think she was conceived out of convenience. Sorry. I don't think her brightness or her looks (which, thankfully, she's grown into now, as have we all) have anything to do with it.

I cannot picture Hillary being warm and fuzzy with ANYONE, not her daughter, and certainly not her husband.

570489 I think it's assuming a lot to think you know what goes on inside I marriage's closed door, especially sexually. For all we know Bill wears the leather hood and ball gag and Hillary wears the stilettos and wields a riding crop with Bill chained to the headboard. For all we know they bugger chinchillas together. For all we know they both take it up the ass by foreign operatives.

Sarah, I must have missed your political diatribe. I tend to go glassy-eyed sometimes. Oh well... it's hard not to be cynical about politics so... party on.
