I really enjoyed this book, so much so that it is hard to say what was great about it. The story telling was key, as is the intriguing topic. There is great interplay between the day to day rescue operation and the history of the area of New Guinea, as well as the personal histories of those involved in the rescue. There are great photographs included to illustrate the narrative, and great care has been taken to interweave reality and supposition.
