it was amazing
bookshelves: speculative-fiction, young-adult
Read from April 09 to 11, 2012

Melina Marchetta is the best YA novelist writing today. Her characters are REAL -- I've met them, I am some of them. I know how it feels when counting won't stop the anger from taking over, when the pain of past sorrows silences my voice. The plight of the refugee, fear of the other, lust for power -- her story lines and characters are straight off the newsfeed.

It is three years since the curse of Lumatere was broken and foundling Froi has found a home, friends and family with the farmers, soldiers and royal family of this little country, when he is sent on a mission to neighboring country for his queen. The miles he travels and the dangers he faces are nothing compared to the journey of self-discovery he must undertake.
