I enjoyed it, but not as much as I enjoyed "In the Forest of the Night," partly because I had trouble with the thought processes of the central character. She slowly turned from sympathetic and interesting into something very different, and it didn't feel like a natural progression, especially given the background for her which slowly emerged. I really wanted to like this book better than I did.

The book itself, written by a teen author about a teen author, whose first book was clearly the real author's first book, was so self-referential that it was almost a joke, but the story was interesting. It really would be jarring to have one of your characters simply walk into your life, which is a small part of how this story begins.
