Ley Line Drifter by Kim Harrison
This is the first story I've ever read featuring pixies as the main characters. It was just too cute but danger lurked in the garden. Apparently a murderous dryad was locked inside a statue by a nymph. This dryad was terrorizing a pixy family who asked Jenks (a successful pixy) to help get rid of the threat to his family. I really enjoyed this short story but I'm not a fan of Kim Harrison's other works.

Reckoning by Jeaniene Frost
Bones is summoned to New Orleans to help defeat a murderous pair of ghouls who actually eat the victims alive. And because that is not enough to keep Bones occupied, Ralmiel, a vampire who is after the bounty on Bones' head, is trying to kill him...with a crossbow of all things. I liked this one but missed Cat's influence and the romance between them.

Dark Matters by Vicki Pettersson
JJ is a comic book superhero of the Light fighting against Shadow agents in the preservation of the human race, until he meets Solange, a beautiful Shadow agent who fires his blood. Their illicit affair softens his heart and desire to fight the Shadow agents. Solange's eventual betrayal destroys JJ and puts him back on the path of righteousness. It seems to me that this comes from the Signs of the Zodiac series of which I read the first book and didn't like it.

The Dead, The Damned and the Forgotten by Jocelyn Drake
One of the vampires informed the Daylight Coalition about a single vampire who was promptly murdered. Mira, Keeper of the Savannah Domain of vampires investigates with the help of Knox. Enter the werewolves and Bishop of the Coven Elders and a fun time was had by all...NOT! I enjoyed this one and it reminded me that I haven't finished this series yet.

Two Lines by Melissa Marr
Eavan is human unless she succumbs to sex and murder at the same time, then she morphs into her true shape, a glaistig. I'm not exactly sure what this creature is except that Eavan definitely did not want to become one. When Eavan tries to stop Daniel Brennan from poisoning girls and selling them into sexual slavery, she realizes she's met her match. She can't decide whether to kill this despicable person or have sex with him. Both of those would turn her into a monster and she's not exactly sure if she can do one without the other. I'm not a fan of Melissa Marr and didn't like either book I've read from her. This short is not bad but definitely not to my taste. I like the paranormal but I don't even want to think about creepy monsters having sex. yuk.
