REVIEW ORIGINALLY POSTED http://hobbitsies.net/wordpress/2012/...
Writing a review of Shine by Jeri Smith-Ready is ridiculously hard. I devoured Shine in essentially one sitting I have SO MUCH to say about it, but I don’t want to spoil anything. So let me just try to sum it up for you guys.
Shine by Jeri Smith-Ready was AMAZING. Literally jaw-dropping. And Shine had the perfect ending. Now, I will say I am Team Aura/Dylan for EVER because I’m a weirdo, so given the fact that what I want is basically impossible, Shine really had the most perfect ending.
Let’s discuss characters. Throughout the series, Aura has seriously grown on me. I didn’t connect with Aura at all in Shade, and I seriously hated Logan for most of it, and I was kind of into Zachary. But through Shift, and now ending with Shine, I LOVE THEM ALL. Jeri Smith-Ready seriously knows how teenagers work. We grow, we mature, in theory we become more likable, and I thought all that growth was really demonstrated through the course of the series.
Uhm, and the storyline. HELLO IRELAND. HELLO SCOTLAND. I was seriously in love with the half of Shine that took place abroad. And there were so many intense scenes in Shine – Jeri Smith-Ready really included some crazy espionage and governmental secrets in Shine, which I always geek out over.
Also, some sobbing occurred. And sexytimes! Just FYI.
I seriously don’t know what else to say. If you haven’t read this amazing series by Jeri Smith-Ready, you definitely need to do so. It’s captivating and original and full of brilliant characters. And if you have read both Shade and Shift, DEFINITELY pick up Shine. It’s a thrilling and perfect conclusion to the trilogy.
Also, I think my initial review on GoodReads was kind of perfect = “-5 stars because I am Aura/Dylan FOREVA. But also +5 stars because Shine is so damn good!”
