** spoiler alert ** Like the last book, this book has an intriguing hook that pulled me in and didn't let go. I like how it incorporated little details from the first book. Sage knows the world she has created very well.

My one complaint (and this is a bit of a spoiler) is that I wanted to see more of a reaction from the adults when they realized that Septimus was right about Simon. As a kid, the idea of adults being clueless to something kids knew was very intriguing to me, and this book brought that part of my inner child out again. I wanted to see the Heaps' shock and fear when they realized Simon had kidnapped his own sister. I wanted a huge epic reunion with Septimus, Jenna, Nicko, and their parents, not to mention one with Marcia and Septimus. But Marcia is not surprised at all by the kids' safe return, and when Jenna goes to tell her parents she is safe, Septimus doesn't go with her. That reunion takes place "off-screen." For me, this was a big disappointment.

Still it was a good book and I intend to read more of the series.
