Deadline (Newsflesh Trilogy, #2)

I read Feed awhile ago, after finding a mention of it online, on my iPhone. Then, when the file wouldn't convert to my Kobo, I bought it again, because I loved it so much. And each time I read it, I made sure to read the teaser at the end for the sequel, Deadline. So when pre-orders opened, I nearly squealed in joy - and my husband promptly ordered it as an early Mother's Day gift.
I absolutely LOVED this book. LOVED LOVED LOVED. Deadline continues where Feed left off, though some time has passed. Without spoiling too much, the conspiracy in Feed is expanded on, and the characters continue investigating it. The main protagonist shifts from George to Shaun, which I actually liked, since it gives a new perspective on pretty much everything. The plot is fast moving, with twists and new additions frequently that keep things exciting, but is also believable - mainly due to Grant's writing style. She obviously did a lot of research, there is almost nothing that had me going 'yeah, right!' which often happens.
The one thing that really drew me in was that it wasn't traditional zombie horror - it's political intrigue, conspiracy, science, a bit of mystery, but with zombies. Feed is the same way, and they really bring a new angle to the genre, which as a zombie enthusiast I'm finding to be a bit stale and rife with mediocre [and worse] writing. While I love zombie horror, I love novels with a bit more to it than just survival, and this fits the bill 100%.
