I liked the switch in perspectives from mother to daughter and the time shift. There was an element of suspense as to what happened on "black ice night" and later as well. The climax builds nicely.

I felt sympathetic for Cam, and was slightly annoyed by Aubrey. The part about the dad was not as fleshed out as I would've liked.

I would describe this book as: coming of age, mother/daughter tension and first love.
