it was amazing
Read in January, 2000

This is not the plot of the movie starring Russell Crowe. The events are a bit earlier. Capt. Aubrey and the surgion/spy Maturin meet in this story. Patrick O'Brian is the best at historical fiction with a naval theme. But even if you are prone to seasickness, this is a book (series) to read for the foreign climes and cultures, for the developing friendship between these two men, and the enthusiasm of the period of natural philosophy.
