it was amazing

I haven't posted anything in Goodreads in far too long, and wanted to praise some books by less well known poets that have made me happy... leading the parade is this donkey. Individually, these spare portrait-poems are dazzling; taken as a whole, in its unfolding, the book is a total knock out.

Since I blurbed it (so did W.S. Merwin and Joseph Stroud), I'll repeat that comment here:

"This profound, grave, and original book investigates all being, and all attention, through one scarred, silent, four-footed master of the pasture. Simply and without reservation, first page to last, I am entirely taken and altered by these spare, wise, hauntingly conceived, brilliantly crafted poems."
