In "Carrots 'n' Cake," food blogger Tina Haupert offers tips on maintaining a healthy balance in food consumption. Overeat at dinner? Start tomorrow off with a workout and light, healthful breakfast to feel better, she writes. Know you tend to indulge after a long night of drinking? Set a limit before your night out begins. And so on.
She illustrates these principals with belabored but airily chatty anecdotes from her own life. It's a quick read, a bit of mental junk food on the topic of health.
On the more substantive side, she includes a few handfuls of healthful- and yummy-looking recipes, mostly for baked goods (too bad it lacks the photos she so frequently discusses snapping), and her can-do determination is sure to cheer on anyone working to shed some weight or keep it off.
