The Book of Vice: Very Naughty Things (and How to Do Them)
by Peter Sagal
by Peter Sagal
I really enjoy Peter Sagal as he hosts the NPR weekly show "Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me". On the program he is funny, witty and quick. This holds very true in this book. Rarely does humor translate well into writing, instead coming off forced and punny. However, Peter's writing in The Book of Vice is extremely funny and witty. I laughed out loud several times during this book.
Peter's self proclaimed "vanilla" lifestyle mimics my own. So the hard part of this book for me was actually reading some of the situations he describes. Although Peter approaches these topics from a smart, funny and observational standpoint, I found some chapters particularly bawdy, especially the chapter on the Porn industry. being incredibly "vanilla" myself there were some things, described here, that I would rather not know about. This is a clearly personal feeling and does not diminish the book.
Overall this is a good read, especially for those who are less conservative than myself.
