It's impossible not to like a Sookie. This wasn't my favorite by any stretch (Dead to the World!!!!!!), but it was good. There were several moments that made me laugh out loud, and I was glad that one plot line in particular was finally cleared up. Sookie has a lot of soul-searching to do as she learns about her history, worries about her relationship with Eric, and stresses about the plot(s?) to kill her/him/them all. Don't worry, she relaxes by watching Jeopardy! (cute).Bubba was back in the action (although she actually used the "E" word, I couldn't believe it!), and what action it was. Yikes. Also, I loved Pam in this one. I wish she got more "on screen" time.
In terms of the boys, I was shocked when Bill didn't make an appearance until halfway though the book (and then it was a brief one). Alcide turns up again, making it more apparent that pack leadership has really squashed the rough but charming guy of Club Dead. And there was not nearly enough Eric, but then there never is!
I'm not really sure how I feel about two of the big plot elements. I will avoid spoilers but say that one has to do with the Eric/Sookie relationship and one has to do with Sookie's gift. I feel iffy about the way things stand and a fact that was revealed, especially because I'm worried about where the next (last!) two books are going. Seriously, while a few things are clearing up, many others seem more convoluted-I don't know how she's going to wrap it all up. I hope she does! It looks like the love triangle might be making a comeback, which is never good for an Eric shipper.
But on a similar topic, any Sookie installment that includes the line "Eric liked monkey sex" is okay in my book!

The joy of being responsible for purchasing adult materials and being the first to know about impending release dates. :)
I'm watching for when the audio shows up in the catalog from acquisitions... I'm gonna be first! lol
