"The Doorbell Rang," by Pat Hutchins is a fun and engaging story about a group of children learning to share cookies as the doorbell keeps ringing and more and more children continue to show up. I do find this book to be very appropriate for students of all ages as they begin to learn division. The story can be used as a visual to show to students how division actually works and the process it takes. The overall content of the story is very useful in helping students grasp the concept of math. The illustrations throughout the story are very similar and basically remain the same on each page except for the expection of drawing in the new children that arrive into the story. The colors are very bright and realistic. Overall, another good choice to include in the classroom as a new way for students to begin exploring with division.
