A Paris car bombing in the Belleville area involves the defense minister's wife and his mistress and our protagonist and sleuth Aimée is in the midst of the action. Also involved in this mystery are Islamic fundamentalists and Algerian nationalists. Lots of action but I (like the protagonist) don't totally understand what's going on – political intrigue, fundamentalists, military impersonators, circus characters and shady types swirling around the misty dark streets of the Belleville area of Paris. Aimée and her sidekick René (view spoiler)
