This year's Victorian High Country reading choice. Whilst not set in Australia, one of the key characters is Australian, and meets and falls in love with a Tunisian women in Paris (one of my favourite cities). I was hoping for some strong Parisian references, however, whilst there are some local depictions, there is little about the broader Paris. A truly bitter-sweet story, both realistic but somewhat surreal. The voice of the narrator comes through strong and vivid, although I found the gaps in his understanding of himself a little irritating.
