As we all know, memoirs are my favorite, as are food writing books, and with "the devil in the kitchen" being a memoir about food, I expected to be enamored with this book, but alas, I was not. Maybe I went in with expectations too high, but I just wasn't able to connect as fully as I wanted. It was written with a ghost writer, so maybe I didn't like his voice, or the voice he gave to Marco, but it read more like a recount of his life thus far as opposed to a story. It was not an easy read, and I usually blow through things like this in a day or two, not a week plus. But oh well, not every book can/will be amazing.
