An engaging novel about pioneer life in a coastal fishing outpost on Newfoundland. The characters cast together on the cape are human, original, convincing, and sympathetic. The novelistic theme is the push and pull between the untamable forces of human engagement and the personal drive for structure, calling, and contemplation.
