I discovered something about myself while reading this book. The reason I generally don't enjoy romance novels is because they star weak heroines who never think for themselves. I can't decide whether the author is just talented at writing inner-dialogue or the main character simply has more spine because she's a middle-aged woman... but I liked it. I also enjoyed the ending, but I won't say any more about that. For the record though... those dog names were ridiculous.
