it was amazing
Recommended for: urban fantasy fans
Read from August 26 to 27, 2011 — I own a copy , read count: 1

Trader is pure magic, not just in the central plot point of the story, but also in the language and world-building. The main plot involves two men who wake up in each other's bodies and have to deal with the very real possibility that they may not get back to their own bodies, their own lives, before irrevocable damage is done... if ever. Complicating the matter is the fact that only one of the men really wants his old life back. Add in a terrific group of secondary characters, a heavy dose of urban magic, and de Lint's effortless grasp of even the most complicated and subtle emotions of his characters, and you have everything necessary for an amazing read. I raced through this book, almost unable to put it down, which is a bittersweet thing: I didn't want to leave de Lint's magical world or slow my exploration of it, but I also didn't want the book to end. According to Goodreads, this is book 7 in the Newford series, and I'm almost glad I haven't read all of the others yet, because that joy is still ahead of me.
