really liked it

It was with some trepidation that I picked up this book (it was a gift so I felt I should be able to talk about it). It turned out to be a really interesting historical account of the founding of Rome. I'm no expert but I could certainly tell when real people were in the plot. As I recently learned, history then was very much a product of whoever was in power. If a senator wanted to be described as dressed in a cloud like a god, he could find someone to write that about him and kill anyone who contradicted him. Freedom of the press was most certainly not a feature of ancient Rome.Anyway, to sum it up- if you like your history in a novel this is most definately for you.
