Excellent overview of why temples are necessary and important. President Boyd K. Packer describes in as much detail as is appropriate why we have temples, what occurs inside the temple and how we can properly prepare to enter the House of the Lord. It is required reading for anyone interested in why The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is so prolific in its temple building program (and has been since the days of Joseph Smith). To the scholar, the book provides excellent information about the seamless connection between the modern temple ordinances and those performed anciently (viz, in the time of Moses, Solomon and even Christ).
