More fun from Amanda Quick as she continues to expand her Arcane Society series. Our heroine, Virginia Dean, has a talent that allows her to see captured images in old mirrors. And she makes her living by doing 'consultations' for private clients, who generally want to know how their loved one died. Our hero is Owen Sweetwater who is on the trail of a human monster and Miss Dean is his link to this person.
The paranormal bits and the mystery are fairly straight forward--what counts is the romance. And Owen and Virginia do have a nice bit of chemistry going on.
For all the horror in the background, this is a light-hearted book. Owen's family is really neat, and we get a nice, secondary romance with Nick and Virginia's best friend. And Virginia's housekeeper is a real winner!
Yes, it may be the more of the same old, same old for some readers--but for fans of the series, it does not disappoint.
