This has historically been my favorite Austen novel (after P&P, masterpiece that it is), but I had a harder time with it with this reading. I still enjoyed it. I delighted bitingly witty descriptions of people and situations. However, I found it slow-going this time around, with very little plot to engage the reader for nearly the first third of the book. Apparently, I have also become cynical in my old-age, since I was more put-off than moved by the various declarations of love. Still, the latter is my defect, not Jane's :). Still highly recommended.

Blue Meanie really? just four stars? what does a book have to do to earn five?

I love Persuasion. It's my second favorite Austen book after P&P.

Christina Achh, did I never write a review for this book? Yes, it had been mine too. Maybe it still is. I'm not sure anymore. I just know that I didn't love it quite as much this time around (my fourth?). I've become cynical and jaded.
