I would have liked a different title, and did puzzle over this for a while, coming up with nothing! Written by an adult, Khorsandi employs her perspective, as a child, of the Iranian Revolution. I found that part fascinating. Also it was a good reminder of how difficult it is for any emigre, refugee, to assimilate into a foreign culture. And a great portrayal of what the average Iranian surely must be like.

Gill I wondered about the title, but in reading found that it was the children's view of their parents who did not "act" i.e. behave "English".
