A low fantasy book of political intrigue, backstabbing, honor, and duty. There's a lot of setup going on in this book (a LOT), but there is at least some action to hold off the hunger pains from consuming the reader. This book leaves more of a hope of things to come, and I hope there is indeed much to come. There is a lot going on in this world, and the attention to detail and overall setting is amazing. This series looks to be trending more towards like Lord of the Rings, and less towards The Wheel of Time, but there are elements of both here. A rather good mix perhaps.
