I really would have given this book 3 1/2 stars if I could. And that pains me to say because Ted Dekker is my favorite author. If this book were by any other author I feel I would've enjoyed it a little more. But I have such strong expectations for his books since they're all amazing that I felt a little let down by this one. Especially since some of the reviews of the ARCs said it was his best book yet. Sorry I think Adam, Bonemans Daughter & of course The Bride Collector (my fav) were all better than this one. Don't get me wrong. It was a fast page turner that I flew through in less than 24 hours. But for the first time ever reading one of his books I felt it was slightly predictable. I knew after the first 6 or 7 chapters how the book would end. But I held out hope that in true Ted fashion he would pull something out of left field & surprise me. But it just never happened. Like I said if someone else had wrote this I wouldn't care. But Ted Dekker is a MASTERFUL storyteller & I don't feel this book portrayed that at all.
