In my mind, I cannot separate today's Jonny Lang from the kid he was when he first came onto the scene. Spectacular guitar work - wild, frenzied, even the slow and mid-tempo stuff. Its was thrilling to listen to. His singing was acceptable, not great but pretty good. The problem was that he was always yelling. Understandable for a teen, full of passion for his music and the blues. I thought for sure this guy would be really something when he learned to control himself. This book is early Jonny Lang. The quirky genius of Murukami is there, practically bursting off the pages. But that's the problem. Its too much. Its being overwhelmed by the roar of the singing. The good news is that Murukami eventually matured and learned to sing a little softer. Jonny Lang - well, Im still waiting for him to turn it down a little.
