This is a great graphic novel! I was inspired to read it after a father of a four-year-old girl was looking for superheroes for his daughter. The art is great and so is the story, about a spunky girl who accidentally loses her friend into another world and then dives in after him. With and without the help of adults, like the Piper, Zita makes alien friends who ultimately help her save the world. There is real danger, but Zita faces it with courage and loyalty to her friends when they are in danger. More pictures than words and great sequences of action make a great reading experience for kids practicing reading. It's important to note, though, that the vocabulary is not beginning reader. The text is just less dense than some graphic novels. Great production values - smooth, heavy paper.
