The Red Tent

I felt the exact same way! I really liked the first two thirds - but the last bit was just lame. It didnt feel like the first part of the book and I was majorily let down.

The first two-thirds of the book tells a historically situated book based on an intriguing premise declared by the title. It is wonderfully involving and inventive within the parameters set by the historic tale. Unfortunately the last third runs amok into a fanciful proto-feminism that is neither consistent with history nor with the rest of the book. Such a tale as the latter would be interesting on its own, but not as the endcap to the otherwise disciplined tale.
