This is such a sweet book about a little girl living in Berlin after the war. She has a wonderful encounter with the Chocolate Pilot (or the Candy Bomber) and continues this wonderful relationship into adulthood. This book would be great when talking about the Berlin Wall and the restrictions put into place by various rulers/dictators.
