Verdict: Out of this world.

There's just so much going on in Lover Reborn. Tohr and No'One/Autumn. John and Xhex. Qhuinn and Layla and Blay. Xcor. I don't even know where to start. There wasn't a thing about this book that I'd change - I loved it. The excitement, the passion, the fighting, the realness of it all, even though this is a paranormal. It all fit tight. It worked beyond perfect.

The main story arc, of course, is Tohr and No'One/Autumn. As much as I love my husband after just 17 years, I cannot imagine what it must have felt like to lose your beloved after HUNDREDS of years together. To mourn them so violently you care nothing for yourself or anyone around you. To finally drag your ass back to reality and attempt some semblance of living, only to be told your loved one is in an "in between" place - a purgatory they will never leave from because YOU are keeping them there with your grief. This is Tohr's fate when the book begins. How do you stop loving someone? How do you let them go on to the afterlife when your most desperate wish is only for them to come back? And how....HOW do you find the otherwordly courage to love another so that your beloved can be set free? As strong as Tohr is, as he has been, this is a demand he cannot meet on his own.

Ward absolutely drags us through the wringer with this one. I cried in the first chapter. I cried in almost EVERY chapter, truth be told. I cried for Tohr and for Wellsie and their babe. I cried for the life they could have had. For the No'One/Autumn and the life she has had to live. For Xhex and John and the life they are trying desperately to figure out. For Layla and Qhuinn, who feel they have no life. For Blay, looking upon a life he wants. For Xcor and the life that was stolen from him (by Payne in the last book) and the life he now lives with vengeance.

Lover Reborn takes the theme of life and rebirth and applies is masterfully to each story and substory. From page one I was hooked and didn't want to be disturbed. I felt as if I was a part of the story, looking in on my friends and loved ones. And if that's not the mark of a great author, I don't know what is.

Kudos to you Ms. Ward. There aren't enough stars on Goodreads for this one. A++

“My name’s Lassiter, and I’ll tell you all you need to know about me. I’m an angel first and a sinner second, and I’m not here for long. I’ll never hurt you, but I’m prepared to make you pretty goddamn uncomfortable if I have to, to get my job done. I like sunsets and long walks on the beach, but my perfect female no longer exists. Oh, and my favorite hobby is annoying the shit out of people. Guess I’m just bred to want to get a rise out of folks—probably the whole resurrection thing.”

“Abruptly, Blay's blue stare found his.
And what Qhuinn saw in it caused him to falter: Love shone out of that face, unadulterated love untempered by the shyness that was very much part of his reserve.
Blay didn't look away.
And for the first time ... neither did Qhuinn.
He didn't know whether the emotion was for his cousin—it probably was-but he'd take it: He stared right back at Blaylock and let everything he had in his heart show in his face.
He just let that shit fly.
Because there was a lesson in this Fade ceremony tonight: You could lose the ones you loved in the blink of an eye-and he was willing to bet when it happened, you weren't thinking about all the reasons that could have kept you apart.
You thought of all the reasons that kept you together.”

Keri I can't wait! I just want to go home, get snuggled up in my bed with a cappuccino and my book and let Ward's world take me away. Dang, what to do with the kids and animals...what to do? Do you think if I explained my hardcore addiction to the BDB that CPS would let me skate, if ohhh I don't know some rope and duct tape came into play...just this once....honest! ;-)

Lady Danielle aka The Book Huntress Thumbs up for the review, Sherri!
