Poe was as fragile and melodramatic as Proust. He lived and died poor with his works being regarded as genius only after his death. He married his wife when she was 13. Poe is best known for his Gothic stories and poetry (the best of these being 'the Raven'). The biography is extremely detailed - sometimes unnecessarily so.
