Written by a Holocaust survivor of the Lvov ghetto when, as a child, she, her immediate family and other Jews hid in the sewer system for over a year. This book was heartbreaking yet inspiring. I found the fact that they were assisted by Polish sewer workers, especially one in particular, long after they ran out of money to be especially affirming of man's humanity. Also, the dynamics of the people living in the sewer were interesting too. The author states that out of over 150;000 Jews in Lvov before the Holocaust that only 3 families, including hers, remained intact after the war.
