First in the Rabbi David Small mystery series. Set in fictional Barnard Crossing, a Boston suburb, this is conservative Rabbi David Small's first assignment. The story deals with the adjustments of Small and the leaders of the congregation to each other. He is different from what they expected. The mystery involves the death of young woman whose purse was found in Small's car thus making him the lead suspect. using Talmud logic, he helps the chief of police solve the murder while striking a close friendship with him.

The story contains a lot of explanation regarding the Talmud, what it means to be a Jew and the use of the Talmud to resolve problems.

Cheri Loved the whole series... it just gets better and better!

George I checked our library online system and the 7 day novels are there and a couple of the others. I plan to reread them plus the non day ones when we get back.
