The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting

Pre-Review:
Even though I'm so incredibly excited for this book to come out, I've got a few issues that I'm worrying about. Okay, one particularly specific issue in mind:

Rafe

I don't like Rafe because I have a feeling Kimberly Derting's going to pull a Twilight and throw in a love triangle. And I honestly don't want this to happen! JAY + VIOLET! They're perfect! Let them stay together!

I would be so happy if:
-Rafe hits on Vi but she doesn't even give him the time of day
-Jay takes his shirt off
-Jay takes his pants off (Where am I going with this?)
-Violet and Jay don't get into any stupid fights like in Desires of the Dead (Cause their fight really bugged me)
-Jay beats up Rafe

I love that certain characters have developed but I don't want any steps back here. Rafe seems alright but I would love to have a female YA character say 'Go away dude, I have the world's best boyfriend so go take your sparkly eyes and hot bod to some other chick.' What I mean is Violet is awesome, Jay is sexy, and Rafe better not get involved...

Alexa LMAO Take off your clothes, Jay!
I so agree with everything you said! Rafe...ehh. :\

Lindsay Jay needs to just be nude the entire book. Or become a nude model. Either is good ;) I'm glad someone agrees because I have a feeling theirs going to be a love triangle and I want one author to just say 'ha I tricked you, no love triangle!' Rafe is kind of meh for me.

Larissa I think Rafe is fine, but I think he should just stay out of Violets life

Lindsay He should stay away. Because Jay would kick his butt ;) lol

Larissa heh, yeah

message 6: by Line (new)

Line Okay, I had to comment on this! You totally read my mind ;D Ha ha
If she makes a love triangle, I'm gonna be so mad!

Lindsay Lol, I'm glad someone agrees with me Line. It would kill me too because Jay and Violet need to stay together. Wouldn't it be great if there was no love triangle?

message 8: by Line (new)

Line That's why I loved the first book so much, it didn't have that typical "love-triangle"... And it was just so sweet. And I too hated the fight in desires of the dead, I don't want her to push them away from eachtoher! :( So yes, it would be great if there was no love-triangle... If Rafe has to be involved, then I hope he turns out to be an idiot, so Jay can kick his ass! :D

Lindsay I'm so sick of love triangles. And oh gosh, I would love for Jay to get mad and just beat up Rafe if he tried to hit on her. You and me would be cheering like crazy! :D

message 10: by Line (new)

Line I would be really happy if that happend! It is just so hard to find good adventure/romance novels without love-triangles! Why do they always have to ruin a good book with stupid things like that? D:

Lindsay I don't know why either. Love triangles are just so overdone and corny and typical and predictable. There are only a handful of authors that can write it well but everyone else just does it because they want to add more "spice." The one author who I felt did the best teen love triangle was Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Power trilogy. Have you read it?

No, but it is actually the book that I'm gonna read next. I have had it on my shelf for so long! And I'm really looking forward to it :D Is it good?, besides the love-triangle? :D

Lindsay It is SO good! I'm not trying to influence you when I say this but Derek is rapealicious. It doesn't get better than him, honest to god. And to be honest, its very unlike most love triangles which I appreciate. You'll see what I mean when you get to the third book. :) Hope you enjoy it!

message 14: by Line (new)

Line Yay! Now I can't wait to read it! :D

Lindsay That's good. Its a really great series, trust me. What YA series do you like?

message 16: by Line (new)

Line I really liked the "Mortal instruments" by Cassandra Clare and "The hunger Games" By Suzanne Collins.
I have started on a lot of series, where I have only read the first one because the rest hasn't been released or I just haven't had time to buy the second yet.
But some I really liked: "Across the universe"(Beth Revis), "Percy Jackson", "Hex Hall", "Gone" and obviously "The body finder" :)

What about you?

Damaris (GoodChoiceReading) no love triangle

Jacqueline Grassi I totally agree! No love triangle Love violet and jay together.

Lindsay Line - I love all of those series as well as the hush hush series, the beautiful creatures series, and I'm really getting into Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi.

Damaris & Jacqueline - Finally! People who agree with me! Lol, I have so much faith in this series so I would hate to be disappointed.

message 20: by Line (new)

Line I really want to read "Beautiful creatures".
But "hush hush", isn't it alot like the "Fallen" series? If you have read it.

Lindsay I have read the Fallen series but I didn't see the similarities in it with Hush Hush. And I personally thought Hush Hush was written much better than Fallen. But you should definitely read Beautiful Creatures! Its a really long book but the series gets better with time. The latest book was the best and I can't wait for the final installment!

message 22: by Line (new)

Line hmm... I better get into that series then. Hopefully it doesn't have any love triangle... (:

Lindsay You definitely should. You'll finally join the Patch fan club...and a bit of fair warning: at first, it seems like this author is trying to do a love triangle but I'm happy to say that the main character doesn't go for it which is also what I love about this series. The second book isn't as good as the first but the third is great! :) I hope you enjoy it!

message 24: by Line (new)

Line Wow, yeah, definitely look into it now! thank you :)

Lindsay No problem :) Any good YA series to reccomend?

message 26: by Nikita (last edited Mar 18, 2012 09:17am) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nikita This is the most awesome non-review I've ever read. :D I absolutely agree with all points of 'I'd be so happy if', especially with Jay-taking-parts-of-his-clothes-off. :D

Lindsay Lol thanks Nikita! :) How excited are you for this book to come out? I seriously hope Rafe just isn't an issue.

Kaitlyn ABSOLUTELY HOW I FEEL, I don't like love triangles, they NEED to stay together, it would be so sad if they got messed up because of Rafe. They are perfect together, Jay is perfect and they waited for so long, they would also lose their friendship. Some girl finally has to say you're nice and yes hot but bug off.

Kaitlyn And Hush Hush is great, Patch is awesome and again no love triangle, other than the angel thing no resemblance to Fallen

Lindsay Finally someone who agrees with me! :) I can't wait for the final book in the Hush Hush series. I love Patch + Nora. Love triangles are so overrated. I'm praying Derting knows this. I'm sick of the same thing over and over. I can't imagine Jay & Violet not being together. Their fight in the last book pissed me off.

Kaitlyn Ditto, they are perfect and so sweet, ruining that would be intensely sad. The fact that they were waiting for each other and the whole mess regarding that in the first book, don't throw that away, and certainly not after only one book. The only time I would ever accept that would be in a long series with a major situation or personality change where it just doesn't work anymore. As for love triangles, the whole I don't know who to choose dithering bugs me, yes sometimes both guys are great but usually it's pathetic and just NO, like in this case. Also normally most authors lack originality and they are just a redone plot. The only love triangle I've not minded was in Born at Midnight by CC Hunter and I think that's because of 3 things: one there is only ever one guy around at a time and two both are great and would be good for her and three there isn't a ton of drama.

message 32: by Ariana (new) - added it

Ariana From where I stand I think we will have a very hard time liking this book, as I have a feeling that those worries will come true *sigh*
bleahh.. i hate so much love-triangles :(

Kaitlyn I hope not but I've heard that this book at least isn't as bad as we fear that way but that says nothing about the next one.

Lindsay @Ari I know. I'm so scared right now but so excited to read this at the same time. If there is a love triangle, I would hate to finish this series but I have hope.

@Kaitlyn Well I'll definitely be checking out Born at Midnight. :) I remember counting how many of my favorite books didn't have love triangles and out of the many many books I only found seven. Seven. How sad is that?

Kendall Gardner OMG i will die if she leaves Jay for Rafe and you just know she will put a love triangl in.. which I REALLY dont want. But if she and Jay break up I will cry to myself for days. SHE BETTER NOT BREAK UP WITH HIM!

Lindsay I know! I swear if there's love triangle I will give up this series for good!!!

Kendall Gardner Lindsay wrote: "I know! I swear if there's love triangle I will give up this series for good!!!"
Me 2! If this turns into a Twilight I am going to go CRAZY! Please don't let my fave book series be ruined!

Natalie Wandless i hate love triangles they always make my fell like the persons cheating and i hate cheaters. i really hope its not like the twilight, because im team jay all the way :D

Liyana I agree with everything whole-heartedly.

Lindsay That's good. God I'm so nervous to pick this book up. It takes me so long to read certain books :P

message 43: by Scrooge (new)

Scrooge Mcduck I agree completely.

Lindsay God I need to start this book. I've missed out on so much...

Liyana Cannot wait for your review. Would love a comparison between the review now and later. :)
