You said it! I put the book down because by ch. 3 I was disgusted with all of them. Nothing brave or noble about any of them and their self-absorbed lives. I have my own problems and ego to deal with, and it's plenty big. Ha!

It's a well-written story, but the characters were loathsome -- maybe the author's point? I mean, I wanted to bitch-slap each and everyone of them by the end.
