F. Scott Fitzgerald
“In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I've been turning over in my mind ever since.
"Whenever you feel like criticizing any one," he told me, "just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had.”

Preethi Why 4 stars? I thought it was just yet another love story. Could not see why the world raves about it. :|

Navdeep You miss the in-between-the-lines stuff sometimes. Love story part is secondary. For me, it was more the narrative tone, the debauchery and excesses of the '20s and the very fact that I believe most of us can relate to Gatsby in the sense that we try to hang on some aspect of the past that seemed magical without considering the new realities. Besides, Nick Carraway is one of the best narrators ever. He can be so inadvertently funny.

Preethi That way, yes. It is a good book. Loved the way it was narrated.
