Dark Needs at Night's Edge (Immortals After Dark, #5)

When Conrad Wroth became a vampire against his will, he went crazy with bloodlust, and eventually a Fallen vampire. For 300 years, he has been consuming the blood of his victims and taking their memories with him as well until he eventually overdosed on them till he couldn't even separate those from his own thoughts.
When his brothers finally located him, they dragged him kicking and screaming to an abandoned manor - haunted by a single, lonely and attention-starved ballerina. Néomi Laress, a petite raven-haired beauty was once a famous dancer from the 20s, was cruelly murdered by the blade of her ex-fiance, leaving her to die and bleed on the floors of her newly purchased home. Eighty years later, she's still inhabiting the manor - but forced to relive her death once every month.
As no one else can see her, she's quite surprised when the tall, handsome and definitely unpredictable vampire can. Eventually, they come to truly care for each other although Conrad can't feel her or feel his heartbeat (signalling she isn't his Bride). Through many unexpected events, she eventually manages to calm him down but both fall in love...As usual, they have to find a way to be together while battling their foes. And a few mortality issues...
Dark Deeds at Night's Edge was a mediocre book at best. It isn't anything to write home about. I wasn't sure I expected anything better but it was far too predictable for me, especially after reading the first couple of books in the series. I can already see happy endings for the main couple. With Néomi and Conrad, I could knew how the two would end up together despite the obvious barriers. There was no highlight in this story for me and I didn't feel the need to finish it although I did because I felt like it. I wouldn't recommend it as there are other stories in the series that I enjoy better. There is no spark, no excitement, and some parts were just corny. 3/5 stars.
