The Accountant's Guide to the Universe: Heaven and Hell by the Numbers

You can pretty clearly tell this book was written by a professor to assign as reading to his accounting 101 class as a way of simply explaining the basic principles of accounting in a supposedly more palatable format, the novel. You can also tell he was a big fan of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe series and wanted to write something similarly smart and funny. Well, that's a tall order. The story, sparse as it is, is about a entrepreneur who scams investors for millions of dollars, then dies, and is assigned to account for his life's value using the accounting principles he abused in life. If that sounds kind of interesting, it isn't. It's completely unfunny and uninteresting. I may have learned something though, so, 2 stars.
