I did not care for the way this one was written...however...I did appreciate the story...I was happy I finished...the actual subject of schizophrenia was dealt with in a way that allowed those of us with no prior witness to have some insight...first hand I can say I understood the father forbid me to write for fear people would think I was 'crazy'...being from the Fitzgerald blood line was a base...I did not actually pen my first novel until after my father had passed...I did not understand how the courts in this story allowed the child to stay with the mother without mandatory screening or how the father could tell his twelve year old daughter her mothers medical condition was her problem not his and that he would do nothing to help (not even offer to call the authorities or hospital for her)...and the way the story was written felt like I was drinking my morning coffee while being a passenger in a car cruising over the most pothole loaded street ever...I knew the story would be good I just wish I could have read it without it splashing all over the place...perhaps this lent to the actual feel going on in the story but for me I preferred the second half of the book...I really liked the way the mental illness was written and how the author defined the fact that people only see what they want to see...three stars because I would not read it again although I would recommend it for the schizophrenia subject matter...
