This book constantly reminded me of Tertullian's adage, "the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church." Brother Yun's passion and steadfast devotion to God amidst the turmoil of the persecuted church in Communist China was especially potent to me when I reflect on my own faith in a religiously free country. Even though this book was not written with an abundance of eloquent prose, the story jumps off the page. I enjoyed seeing how even when writing about the torture and persecution in his life, he shares with such constant joy and peace. I would totes recommend reading this book if only to get a glimpse of what Christians are going through outside of this country.
