Fantastic opening, fast-paced story...but gets a little nuts at towards the end. The sex is probably a little more explicit than it needs to be for YA, too.

Carol Storm You say that like it's a bad thing!

Wendy Darling Hah hah, point taken. Although the scene I'm thinking of is more guy-centric, skeevy sex than the kind that makes you hot and bothered.

Carol Storm LOL!!! Thanks for the warning. I don't often read YA or Paranormal anyway, so I can probably just avoid it. Have you ever read THE PERILOUS GARD by Elizabeth Marie Pope? I think you'd really like it!

Wendy Darling Meh. There are better YA horror novels out there.

I have Perilous Guard waiting TBR at some point, thanks! One of these days, one of these days...

Carol Storm Well, it has positively the strongest heroine I have ever read in any YA book, and while there is a romance, it's very subtle.

Stormy I don't think it is YA. It says "Not for readers under 18."

Wendy Darling Thanks for the heads up, Stormy--I think that's a new addition from when I read this book months and months ago, and I think that's a good thing because the explicit scenes were pretty gratuitous.

It's hard because the characters are YA age from what I remember, and many reviewers also view it as such.

P.S. It's currently free for Kindle at the moment, though!

Stormy I figured that might have been the case. :)

From the beginning you would think it would be YA.

I'm reading it now. I haven't reached any of those scenes yet. I'm afraid to. ha ha

Wendy Darling Good luck. ;) It's not terrible by adult standards, but it raised my eyebrows for YA!

sh(e)reader ... I don't mind some sex, if it's tasteful ... this was SO crass. Per the sex/language, I wouldn't recommend it for youth, but I don't know that it would appeal to an older audience either. I don't even think I'll finish ...
