This book was in interesting concept. Though it features fairy tale characters, the setting is gritty and urban. The issues of drugs, a jailed father, a kid on his own in a dangerous city, might appeal to kids who might not otherwise be drawn to the fantasy genre. The characterization I found really lacking, unfortunately.
